Birth Plans! Empty Birth Plans!

Are they worth it?? Did you have one and if so did you stick to it? Is birth a time that should be planned or just go with the flow?

I dont think you can really plan it. The wee monsters seem to do what they want to do. think its good to have some kind of plan but to be open minded and realise that all plans may go out the window

I made my plan and felt that it calmed me in the lead up to the bith, I liked the fact that I knew what would happen if labour went according to plan (IE Not premature, or emergency C section) I said I would try with out pain relief but would have an epidural if I needed it, I do not want pethidine and I wanted to make sure that they were 100% Clear on that, but of course OH would have made sure they knew that as he knew how strongly we both felt. As it turned out My birthday went exactly as my plan said, no pain relief except gas and air, I was generally active etc etc. One of the lucky ones maybe.

Mine consists of a stork at the moment!!
Not started ante natal classes yet, and only had info on birth plans from reading other forums, so I'm not sure yet what to do.
I'm sure as long as the baby comes out safe and well, I'll be past caring how it gets here when my time comes!
