At long last!! I HAVE A DENTIST!!!!!

I cant believe it! My mum told me there was a new dentist taking on 150 NHS patients advertising in the local paper. I thought Id probably be out of luck (as the case has been since I was 3months pregnant) but phoned anyway and I have an appt for 29th!! Ok its been 6 years and I know I need work and I dont wanna know what they are gonna tell me (like i need false teeth or something...) but atleast I can get sorted now!
Oh and I can get rid of my DIY filling!! lol

We had to go private as we could not get a NHS dentist at all. Luckily though the kids are free.

I have had a couple of bad experiences with dentists and it put me off for 6 years and I went in October and needed no work except a scale and polish. So pinkies crossed apart from your filling there will be no major work involved.

I have to say my dentist is lovely, so nice and kind x

Yay Tai thats brilliant! I'm so glad I got a dentist I out it off so long I had to get a tooth out ( Its all stitched up and it hurts today but better than getting an infection!) and Im finally getting rid of my DIY filling at the end of this month

What put me off is I had really bad treatment when I was 14. I have bad blood supply to the back of my mouth and this doesnt help my teeth at all and I needed a root canal because of it. They tried 3 times on the same day to numb my mouth with injections. I had 9 in total and could feel everything and it was so painful. In the end they stopped and decided on a GA - which I had at the dentist!! Not at hospital. I was under for approx 1hr 15mins due to breathing problems (asthma related). I went back for check ups but as soon as I was old enough to sort dentist treatment myself I refused to go!!
Now I have nightmares about my teeth all falling out and thats what has prompted me to get things sorted!! lol

When I had this tooth out last week they gave me an injection in my arm and although I was technically concious cant remember a thing except near the end when I can recall some pulling and a scraping noise. Im so glad I got it as they had to cut my gum open to remove the roots ugh!! My mum came with me (I had to go to a specialised dentist 40 miles away) to drive me home and couldnt stop laughing at me, she described me as being "high as a kite" Had to stay with my parents as my husband was away working and the dentist told me I wouldnt be fit to look after Matt! Ive learned my lesson though never leaving it this long again!!

Glad it went ok for you. Im really dreading it but I know its for my benefit. Its shameful not seeing a dentist in so long lol! I reckon hes gonna run a long list off.... 'So Miss Coe this is what you need done.............'

Well done! We can't find one in and around Leeds for love nor money, It's a right pain when the only dentist your child has seen is the school one. I think Gordon Brown and these Private dentists need a very big kick up the you know what! x

Thats great news. I bet it wont be as bad as you think when you go. I went for the first time in about 5 years last week (well while its free!!). I was surprised that there was nothing wrong and needed no treatment!

Nice one Tai. I have been going private now since I had a bad wisdom tooth that HAD to come out immediately as I was in so much pain and the only dentist available was private. But the relief afterwards was amazing and I would never go back to NHS where I had loads of bad experiences.

Luckily hubby's company pays for our dental work here in the Netherlands so I got my two front teeth capped beautifully - hand painted and it took 6 hours of fitting work! It cost £2k and we only have to pay £187 of that!!!

TBH i'm too scared to find one, its one of my worst fears!

Rach its one of mine and Im really scared...which is why my mum is coming with me!!

I am terrified of the dentist but after having 2 really nice dentists (private though) I am not as bad. Plus they always give me extra anaesthetic to ensure I don't feel any pain - I think it is rationed on the NHS!
